In 1999, the famous American lighting company, Luxo, came to Designworks to develop a new task lamp. This lamp would be part of a partnership with the Haworth Jump Stuff line of office accessories, working within the modular system.
Taking inspiration from the aesthetics derived from the Jump Stuff language, I wanted the Wing lamp to be light and sculptural, floating over the desk with a soft glow. We explored a naturalistic organic form, inspired by actual leaves, to create the softly sculpted main body. The reflector was crafted of a perforated reflective aluminum, which redirected most light downward towards the user, but also let some light bleed through the translucent top housing due to the perforations.
