I was part of a design team at Designworks that helped Motorola’s iDEN group create their next push-to-talk phone. These phones are typically used in fleet services, in construction, and other industries where scattered teams of people need to communicate, as well as for the general consumer market.
Our team began a round of sketch exploration to determine the right feel for the new phone (called the Scorpion). The chosen concept was then built in CAD and transition into the client’s internal engineering team for further development.
The product launched in 2001, and set a new bar for dynamic design within that division.
